Gangtok, Wednesday, Jul 7 2010 IST (UNI): Sikkim is all set to become the first state ever to install round the clock CCTV monitoring of electronic voting machines (EVMs) kept in the strong rooms with the system to be put in place by the end of this month.

Revealing this to newspersons in Gangtok yesterday, Chief Electoral Officer VB Pathak said these CCTVs will work 24×7 and have the facility of continous video recordings for about a month.

He said the system will ensure protection against any sort of tampering with the EVMs, adding that machines, at present, are kept at the strong rooms located at the State Election Office as well as at the district headquarters at Namchi, Geyzing and Mangan. — (UNI)

Good for nothing. How much more Goverment Money is going to waste. Since Sikkim election is the smallest in India. Whereas there are bigger state with more problem where they badly need to watch all the machine. Not in Sikkim. If Sikkim is a trail run then its okay.
