Sanju Pradhan to lead Sikkim in Santosh Trophy – another rising star yet to prove himself ?!!

Sunday, July 18, 2010: East Bengal Midfielder Sanju Pradhan is selected as the skipper of the Sikkim team that is going to play Santosh Trophy at Kolkata.
Sanju will lead the 20 member team and is expecting a good result in the tournament. According to him the team has strong bench and good players for every position.
Nirmal Chetri is also being selected in the team.
Sikkim has been placed in Cluster VI along with Haryana and Chhattisgarh for the qualifying round and will play their first match against Haryana on July 21. The team will be leave for Kolkata on July 18.

Sikkim football squad announced for Santosh trophy – target past Quater Finals only, not the trophy itself ?!!

Gangtok, Friday, July 16, 2010 15:44 IST: The Sikkim Football Association today announced a 20-member squad for the 64th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy to be held in Kolkata.
The 20-member squad comprises footballers from reputed clubs in the country and have an accent on youth, most under 20 years of age.
The team will be led by Sanju Pradhan [East Bengal] as captain and Bikash Jairu as [ONGC Mumbai] as his deputy.
Other members are – Nirmal Chettri [East Bengal], Sanjay Chettri, Surjay Pariyar, Bijendra Rai, Bir Bahadur Pradhan, Karma Lhendup Lepcha, Kunzang Lachungpa, Ibrahim Lepcha, Sagar Rai, Don Tshering Lepcha, Robin Gurung [ONGC Mumbai], Sonam Zangpo, Ong Tshering Lepcha, Laxuman Subba [Md Sporting AC Kolkata], Engpohang Subba, Rupesh Diyali, Nim Tshering Lepcha [HAL Bangalore] and Palman Rai.
While Thupden Rapgyal will be the Chief Coach, Arjun Rai will be his assistant coach and Dorjee Tamang the team manager.
The names were announced by the Sikkim Football Association [SFA] General Secretary, Menla Ethenpa in the presence of SFA President, Tempo Bhutia and working President, BK Roka.
The team was shortlisted from a pool of 28 players who underwent a training camp for the championship which was organized by the SFA.
Sanju Pradhan said the team has a strong bench strength and good players for every position.
Sikkim has been placed in Cluster VI along with Haryana and Chattisgarh for the qualifying round and will play its first match against Haryana on July 21 followed by the next match against Chattisgarh on July 23.
The team will be leaving for Kolkata on July 18.
