Bolpur, Aug. 8: Five persons have been arrested for allegedly parading nude a minor tribal girl and video-recording the incident.
The men had stripped the girl of her clothes in Birbhum’s Rampurhat for speaking to a truck driver.
They were arrested after police came across an MMS of the video footage circulated by the five.
Bengal boy dies in AP
Hyderabad, Aug. 8: An undergraduate student from Darjeeling died of high fever at Visakhapatnam yesterday with his hostel mates alleging delay by the college authorities in taking him to hospital.
Shah Rukh Ali, 19, a student of Vikas Junior College, used to stay at the institute’s hostel. His body will be kept in the college until his parents arrive.
Police said no complaint had been registered yet.

Hill boy dies in AP
Hyderabad, Aug. 8: A 19-year-old intermediate second year student of Vikas Junior College, who hailed from Darjeeling, died of high fever in a private hospital in Visakhapatnam last night. The body of Shah Rukh Ali has been kept on the college campus for his parents to arrive.
Nearly 110 students, mostly from the Northeast, who stay at the junior hostel, alleged that the youth died because of the delay by the college management in admitting him to hospital. Police said no case has been registered yet. “An autopsy will be conducted only if there is a formal complaint,” said a police officer. The college management said the boy died of high fever and had nothing to do with the school facilities.
Balurghat: Retail traders of jute blocked state highway 10 at Kamarpara for more than five hours on Sunday demanding appropriate price of jute in the market. Block development officer of Balurghat Samrat Chakraborty was heckled by the protesters when he reached the spot. The blockade on the highway, that connects Balurghat and Hili, was withdrawn around 11am with the arrival of police.
Balurghat: The father of a nine-year-old girl lodged a complaint with the Balurghat police station on Sunday claiming that the minor had been kidnapped by a relative. Police said Mantri Mardi’s brother-in-law Lakhhidam Baskey visited their house in Khidirpore on July 31. Baskey had left the house with the girl and since then they could not be traced.
