ENTERTAINMENT: Album of singers on the cards – a CM who cares about music ?!!

Namchi: With the aim to dig out the hidden rural talents in the field of music, a Constituency Level Singing Competition 2010 has begun here at Museum Hall. Being organized by the Constituency Level Committee of SDF party for Poklok Kamrang Constituency talents, total 32 such rural upcoming singers are taking part in it.
Chairman Tea Board, Gagan Rai inaugurated the competition on 11th September as chiegf guest. e Adhyaksha South District Zilla Panchayat, Rabi Chandra Gurung, was the chief guest of First Elimination Round on Sunday, September 12.
In this two day long first elimination round of the programme total 32 singers from various places of Poklok Kamrang Constituency gave their presentations, 16 participants on first day while rest 16 on Sunday.
The competition on Nepali modern and folk song has been judged by three panels of judges comprised of renowned singers, musicians and composers of Sikkim namely, Francis Rai, Bikram Gautam and Madhav Ghimirey.
After presentations in track music in this first elimination round, the judges selected 16 talented singers from 32 participants who will be now taken to the final round of the show. In the final round top 10 singers will be selected.
As learnt from the General Secretary of CLC, Poklok Kamrang Prakash Rai, the top 10 singers will be provided free vocal classes and will be prepared for district level competition. The grand finale of this constituency level vocal competition for the talents of Poklok Kamrang will be held on 26th September at the same venue.
The selected top singers will also get an opportunity to give their voice in the album which, according to General Secretary Mr. Rai, will be produced by the Chief Minister Sikkim Dr. Pawan Chamling who is the area MLA of Poklok Kamrang constituency.
