Siliguri, 7 October: D.K.Bomjan President of Gorkha Rashtriya Congress a champion of Darjeeling Sikkim merger died of heart attack this morning at about 6.30 am in a nursing home in Siliguri.
He was very active in the local politics since he formed GRC.
Previously he was in the Indian National Congress.
He was of the opinion that Sikkim is incomplete without unification with Darjeeling as it was a. part of Sikkim and given to British during British regime.
Lately he had also rejected the proposed Interim setup.
Sound and light show on Wildlife inaugurated by Tourism and Small-scale Industry Minister

Alipurduar, Oct 6: Around 20 fibreglass models of different animals, birds and reptiles have been kept on the lodge grounds as part of a sound and light show that was inaugurated by tourism and small-scale industry minister Manabendra Mukherjee on Wednesday evening.
The 29-minute son et lumiere will inform the visitors about various species of animals and birds that are found in the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, 50km from Alipurduar town.
Tourists staying at the Jaldapara lodge would be able to enjoy the digital programme every evening without having to pay anything extra. Currently, the voice-over for the programme is in English but there would be a Bengali version in the future.
“This is the first time in India that a sound and light show on wildlife has been arranged. Our aim is to make the visitors aware of the different birds and animals in the sanctuary. The project worth Rs 58 lakh is a puja gift to tourists,” said Mukherjee.
The minister added that Rs 1.2 crore has been spent for the construction of a restaurant and a conference hall at the lodge and for renovation of the resort itself. “Another Rs 1.12 crore has been invested for a six-room tent house near the lodge that is likely to open in February. We have 90 acres near Kunjanagar that will be developed as a gateway to the Jaldapara forest,” he added.
Dhubri, Oct. 7: Dhu-bri DRDA employee Mizanur Rahman was arrested last night for abducting Farjina Rahman, 8, and Afraju Rahman, 5, children of an official of the handloom and textile department of South Salmara-Mancachar sub-division of Dhubri district.
Bombs go off
Dhubri: Two crude bombs went off in Dhubri district, one near the cinema hall in Golokganj town and the other near the police watch post in Agomoni on Wednesday around 10.30pm. No one was injured in the blast.
