Gangtok, Dec. 5: A code of inquiry has been initiated against a colonel and three other army officers for allegedly molesting women manning a casino here after midnight on December 1.
According to army sources, Colonel Sandeep Singh, who had checked into the hotel after he arrived in Sikkim as a temporary duty officer for the Signals, and three other officers, are now facing the inquiry being conducted by the 17th Mountain Division. Senior army officers here said the colonel had come from Indore, where he was posted.
While the hotel was tight-lipped about the incident and made no complaint with police, sources said the management got in touch with the tour operator that had handled the colonel’s reservation. The tour operator got in touch with the army here and Colonel Singh was taken away from the hotel by the military police the morning after the incident took place, the sources said.
